Ginrin Showa
$2,500.00
A Ginrin Showa combines the bold, black-based pattern of Showa Sanshoku with the bright, reflective sparkle of ginrin scales. In Japanese koi, Showa is prized for its dramatic interplay of sumi, beni, and shiroji, and the addition of ginrin gives that classic three-color pattern a more luminous, textured finish. A strong Ginrin Showa should still read clearly as Showa first, with meaningful sumi placement and good balance across the body, while the sparkling scales add energy and lift in the water.
What makes Ginrin Showa especially appealing is the contrast between strength and brilliance. The variety keeps the depth and power that make Showa so admired, but the ginrin introduces a sharper, more eye-catching quality that can make the pattern feel even more alive. Clean skin, a solid body line, and consistent sparkle all contribute to the overall impression. For collectors looking for Japanese koi with classic Nishikigoi character and added visual impact, Ginrin Showa offers a striking blend of tradition, contrast, and light.
How are koi packaged for shipping?
Each koi is double-bagged with oxygen and shipped in an insulated, temperature-controlled box.
Do I need to be home when it arrives?
Yes — someone 18 or older needs to be available to receive the shipment as soon as it arrives. Prompt unboxing and acclimation is important for the fish’s health.
What happens in bad weather?
We may delay shipment during extreme weather to protect the koi, and will let you know if that happens.
Can I combine multiple koi into one shipment?
Yes — multiple purchases can typically be combined into a single shipment. Ask us about holding your koi if you’re still deciding on others.
Factors we account for
- Koi size and quantity — larger or multiple fish need more water volume and larger boxes.
- Box weight — water, oxygen, and insulation add real, billable weight.
- Distance and destination — domestic vs. international, and how remote the delivery address is.
- Season and weather — extreme heat or cold requires heat packs or extra insulation to protect the fish in transit.
- Speed of delivery — live animals ship overnight or via expedited air cargo, never standard ground.
